Additional Therapies at
Aguayo Chiropractic & Wellness

therapy performed on a patients footThe Aguayo Chiropractic & Wellness team is proud to offer the care your body needs when you need it most. Sometimes, that goes beyond traditional chiropractic adjustments and into other natural options.

Below are some of the other techniques and/or services that may be a part of your care plan:

Intersegmental Traction: Intersegmental traction is a way of introducing passive motion into the spine for the purpose of stretching spinal joints and increasing mobility. During the session your ligaments and muscles will be gently stretched and the blood flow and oxygen to your discs, ligaments and muscles are increased, thereby improving balance, strength and mobility.

Ultrasound Therapy: Ultrasound has been shown to cause increased tissue relaxation, local blood flow, and scar tissue breakdown. During a session, we apply ultrasound using a wand or probe put in direct contact with the skin. Ultrasound gel is used on the surface of the device to reduce friction and improve the transmission of the ultrasonic waves. There’s no pain associated with a session-many find it relaxing!

Interferential Current (IFC): IFC has been shown to increase blood flow, promote healing, reduce swelling, stimulate local nerves and muscles, and reduce pain. The IFC machine produces electrical currents that pass through the affected area of the patient. The current tends to penetrate deeper than other electrical modalities.
IASTM: Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a manual therapy treatment technique that utilizes specially designed stainless-steel instruments to assist in detecting and treating areas exhibiting scar tissue, soft tissue restriction, adhesions or chronic inflammation. Benefits include improved mobility and quicker recovery from injury.

Kinesio Taping: Kinesiology Tape is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while allowing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion, enabling the individual to participate in physical activity with functional assistance. Kinesio tape can be applied to many injuries including, sprains, postural disorders, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, rotator cuff injuries or shoulder injuries and knee injuries.

Cupping Therapy: Cupping therapy involves placing “cups” on your muscles to create a separation of tissues to promote healing, relieve sore muscles, and reduce pain through the stimulation of blood flow. Cupping therapy is sometimes referred to as a reverse massage, where instead of pressure, cupping pulls the soft tissue upwards, creating a deep stretch and releasing tension and pressure on the underlying structures. In a cupping session, you’ll lie comfortably while the cups sit on your back. You may feel a “suction” sensation, which is completely normal. A cupping session lasts up to a half an hour.

RockPods Myofascial Cupping: Utilizing RockPods medical grade silicone cups on the muscles, your trained technician is able to perform traction, tissue gliding, and decompression of the underlying tissues. This treatment is similar to cupping therapy, but it allows the technician to manipulate the tissues with movement to increase mobility and range of motion.
