National Nutrition Month-Part 1

March is National Nutrition Month! During the month of March our focus at Aguayo Chiropractic & Wellness is helping our patients to make informed food choices, develop good eating habits and staying active! To encourage healthy eating habits, each of our members is going to share a typical day of healthy eating and exercise habits!

Week 1

Marissa Aguayo – Office Manager

I like to start my day with warm lemon water to support my digestive system and prepare for the day. I wait 20 minutes after my lemon water to have coffee. I then eat breakfast between 10:00 and 11:00am which typically consists of granola, coconut yogurt and lots of fruit! I try to get in a 30 minute exercise routine during my lunch hour. I love to stream beach body on demand for workouts! For lunch I’ll make a rice and veggie bowl or if I’m in a hurry I’ll have tuna fish or chicken salad with smashed avocado in a lettuce wrap. Dinner typically consists of a healthy meat, side, and veggie. To make it easy my favorite side is cauliflower rice mixed with veggies. The one I am highlighting below is super easy and only takes 15 minutes to make!

Cauliflower rice with veggies:

  • Chop a yellow onion and sauté on medium heat with a little extra virgin olive oil.
  • Sauté for a few minutes and add minced garlic, cut up asparagus, and chopped broccoli.
  • Sauté for a few more minutes then add frozen cauliflower rice.
  • I brown my rice for a few minutes and then add a small amount of chicken or vegetable broth, salt and pepper.
  • Cover and simmer, and steam for 5 minutes and ENJOY!
