Wave Goodbye to Pain With Ultrasound

Ultrasound theray on womans shoulderUltrasound therapy uses sound waves that cause microscopic vibrations and deep heat to treat musculoskeletal issues. Ultrasound can help with plantar fasciitis, rheumatoid arthritis, ligament sprains, bursitis, tendonitis, myofascial pain and more. Treatment with ultrasound is quick and effective.

What to Expect

Depending on the area we’re treating, we may ask you to gown up. We will apply a gel to the skin and use a light pressure with continual movement of the transducer head. This gel allows sound waves to reach your tissue evenly. The gel we use is hypoallergenic.

Dr. Aguayo will continually move the transducer head in small circles around the selected area for 5-10 minutes. You may feel a mild pulsing sensation or slight warmth of the skin, but ultrasound isn’t painful.

The FDA considers ultrasound safe as long as it’s performed by a licensed professional. Dr. Aguayo is highly experienced in providing this therapy.

Benefits of Ultrasound Therapy

  • Reduces pain
  • Relaxes muscle spasms
  • Improves joint mobility
  • Addresses surgical wounds
  • Promotes healing of deep tissues
  • Increases deep circulation
  • Treats scar tissue

An Effective Complement to Chiropractic Care

We find that many patients benefit from receiving both ultrasound and chiropractic care. For example, if you have low back pain and knee pain, Dr. Aguayo may first adjust the low back and then do ultrasound.
